Head girl Peta McKay’s speech struck a chord with many students last Friday, 22nd March 2019, one week on from the terrorist attacks in Christchurch. Student leaders also organised an opportunity for students to light candles and leave chalked messages of love and peace.

“Thank you for being here, because as we have come together today, it has made us stronger.

As a school one of our Soar Values is we respect differences and beliefs. This tragedy has given us the opportunity for discussion of who we are and how we move forward from the lessons we are learning to unite as one.

Because we are the younger generation,  it starts within, we are shaping the future day to day, and we can implement change. Move forward with Aroha and salam, love and peace. “
