The Wanaka Trail Ride offers a unique and stunning, all-abilities trail bike ride over Deep Creek, Long Gully & Lindis Peak Stations. Riders have the rare opportunity to explore private high country farmland, whilst helping to raise funds for Wanaka Primary School and Montessori Children’s House.
100% volunteer led by a small, dedicated team, the trail ride has raised $100,000 that has been shared between Wanaka Primary School and Montessori Children’s House Wanaka and would not be possible without the support of our volunteers, landowners and business sponsors.
Join the volunteer crew, meet a bunch of awesome people, see a stunning part of the countryside, do something completely different and get a whole heap of warm fuzzies knowing you’ve contributed to hosting an epic trail ride and raising $1000s for our children.

Key roles they still need to fill are:
Pee wee marshals: Keep an eye on the pee wee track for younger riders and make sure they have a parent supervising them are riding safely. Confident volunteers required who don’t mind stopping riders and politely asking them to slow down or leave the track if they are riding too fast.
Catering: Join the crew in getting everything ready for when the kitchen opens and the hungry riders head down from the hills for lunch. There are plenty of roles to choose from and we’ll aim to slot you into something you are happy with. Burger station, BBQ, salad prep, or out front taking orders. No catering experience required – just a willingness to muck in and get to know some other lovely vollies whilst you work. Sign up now and get your choice of shift!
Spark Arrestor Testers: Volunteers work in pairs to check all rides have the spark arrestors fitted to their bikes – helping reduce fire risk up on those hills. Full induction provided so you don’t need to know about bikes to sign up, however you need to be happy being out there amongst riders and have a confident and assertive attitude.
Marshals, sweep riders and gate marshals,: Our biggest team is well established but we always welcome new marshals to the team. So, if would like to join the marshal crew this year shout out! Be right at the heart of the ride, get up on the trails and ensure the ride is safe and epic day for everyone involved. Experienced riders and a high level of maturity required.
