We all think differently about who/what/how/where our community is, even within the geographical boundaries of SIC that are the Upper Clutha community.
Sometimes when we receive a call-out for volunteering, they are for an organisation that may have opposers, such as the recent call-out for volunteers by Protect Wanaka.
It’s really important for us to be crystal clear that students have freedom to decide who their community are and how they want to volunteer to support them, and that, in facilitating this programme, we put ideas forward for them without prejudice or agenda.
