Devlin Lynden and Flynn Rosie volunteered as two of the ‘Yamster’ crew that made it possible to put on this music summit. YAMI = Youth and Adults in the Music Industry. It is a chance for people of all ages to work with and learn from musicians like Tiki Taane, Laughton Kora, Bella Kalolo and more, as well as others behind the scenes. This kind of opportunity takes a huge amount of organising – people come from all over the country! – and these two senior students were closely involved in making it happen.

In the words of Lake Wanaka Sounz director, Lynne Christie –

“Devlin has been working as a Lake Wanaka Sounz Intern since last summer (has completed over 52 hours) and has thrown himself into every job, from emptying rat traps at the TUKI shed to taking speakers apart to website programming.”

“Flynn has helped move a baby grand piano which was donated to Lake Wanaka Sounz by a local family, and helped Hugh and Mat (Production Manager) HUGELY during the Yami weekend with audio and tech assistance.”

“Without such assistance from such amazing Year 13 talents, a summit like Yami simply could not happen. We are so grateful for their skills and don’t want to let them go. Ever.”
